Silversports Football Club of Mbaise is set to make a grand return to competitive football as they participate in the maiden edition of the Imo State Super League, scheduled to kick off on July 5, 2025. The Mbaise-based side will take to the pitch on July 7 in a high-stakes encounter against powerhouse Campos Football Club, marking their first major competitive outing in several years.
The team, which last featured prominently in the 2010 Imo State League, is looking to recreate the magic of that unbeaten campaign, where they narrowly missed the title due to goal difference behind eventual winners Mnamoha FC. Backed by Silvernews Communication, known for its consistent contributions to sports development in Nigeria, Silversports FC is hoping to announce their return with a strong statement of intent.
In preparation for the tournament, the club has employed the services of experienced coaches to lead the technical bench while the management intensifies efforts to secure necessary logistics. The team’s participation in the Imo Super League, a flagship competition of the state’s club owners, signals their commitment to reclaiming their place among Imo’s football elite.
