The Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Campos Football Club, Owerri, Patrick Osuji, has disclosed the inspiration behind the establishment of his fast-rising football club.

In an exclusive interview with Silvernews.com.ng Osuji revealed that his primary motivation for founding Campos FC in 1998 was to take youths off the streets and contribute to crime reduction in society.

“My primary aim was not business per se. I love football, and even my family has a deep passion for the game. My maternal grandmother, the Late Veronica Ohale, and my mother were ardent supporters of Heartland FC and Campos FC,” Osuji stated.

He emphasized the club’s commitment to youth development, highlighting how Campos FC has grown over the years and started yielding results.

“You can see what God is doing for me today by helping remove youths from the streets. Others can follow my footsteps; they should not give up. Since the club’s formation in 1998, we began generating dividends between 2024 and this year,” he added.

Osuji also shared how Campos FC has successfully produced players for European clubs.

“I have a player with Osasuna, Belgium, Francis Uzoho in Cyprus, and currently, I am moving some players to Belgium, Bulgaria, and France. One of the top four teams in France invited three of my players, and two others recently moved to Sweden. God is doing marvelous things.”

He further credited the transfer of Uche Chrisantus as a key turning point that put Campos FC on the radar of European football agencies.

“The transfer of Uche Chrisantus made most agencies in Europe contact me for players. This is what God has done for me,” Osuji concluded.

Campos FC continues to make waves in Nigerian football, providing a platform for young talents to reach greater heights on the international stage.
