The Imo State Football Association heartily congratulates our own African Female Goalkeeper of the year, Chiamaka Nnadozie for successfully defending her title and Super Eagles striker Ademola Lookman, the 2024 African Player of the Year.
It’s inspiring and a pride for Imo state and Nigerian football that these two have put the nation on the limelight again and for enviable feats.
It is a personal pride for us that our own Chiamaka Nnadozie who started her career in Imo state retained her title as the best African female goalkeeper for the second consecutive year.
No doubt, Chiamaka has proven again that hard work laced with discipline and commitment leads to success even as she has proven that Imo state possess limitless potential and is the highest exporter of Nigerian talents.
Nnadozie right from her early years as a student at Akwakuma Girls Secondary School to her formative years with clubs like Iwu FC, Heartland Queens, Rivers Angels, and Nigeria’s U-17 and U-20 teams has remained a trailblazer especially in resilience, hard work, and determination.
We know that Nnadozie and others will continue to make us proud while we remain committed to the development of the leather game.
It gladdens us that Lookman who some months ago honoured the memory of late Samuel Okwaraji has today emerged Africa’s best footballer.
He has shown that everyone has the capacity to rewrite their own story and we’re proud of his achievements especially for entrenching Nigeria in the hearts of football lovers.
While we congratulate Nnadozie and Lookman on their enviable feats, we call on Nigerian footballers the world over to keep making our country proud, especially as football has been acclaimed as our biggest uniting factor irrespective of our diverse culture, tradition, language, and religion.
We are confident that Nigerian exports will continue to blaze the international scene of football and other sports and appeal for more support and collaboration to nurture the abundant talents.
