The Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) Owerri Old Girls Association, Lagos Chapter, has expressed profound gratitude to the Chairman of the Imo State Basketball Association, Mr. Kelechi Anosike, for his exceptional support in ensuring the success of the recently concluded Games Carnival at their alma mater.
In a letter of appreciation, signed by the President, Nnenna Okedumnaka, and the Secretary-General, Ajoke Baruwa, the association praised Mr. Anosike’s visionary leadership and passion for basketball development among students. They acknowledged his commendation letter dated November 15, 2024, which encouraged other alumni groups in Imo State to emulate the initiative.
The association highlighted Mr. Anosike’s invaluable contributions, including the deployment of three additional basketball coaches, which provided the students with much-needed guidance. They also commended his personal sacrifices, such as funding transportation for the coaches and braving the risks posed by IPOB’s two-day sit-at-home directive to personally oversee training sessions.
The letter described his presence during the trainings and his words of encouragement as a major boost to the students’ morale. Despite the concerns about limited training time, Mr. Anosike’s confidence in the students motivated them to exceed expectations during the event.
The Old Girls Association celebrated the maiden edition of the Games Carnival as a resounding success, crediting Mr. Anosike’s commitment and leadership. They announced the formation of a standing committee to ensure the annual continuation of the program, with hopes of sustained support from the Imo State Basketball Association.
