Peter Obi Endorses Ijele Sports Club, Says ‘It’s Men’s Football Team Eargerly Awaiting Nov 30 NNL Kick Off Date’

His Excellency, Peter Gregory Obi, a former Executive Governor of Anambra State has queued firmly behind Ijele Sports Club, saying it opens a new vitsa for youths to acquire, nurture and develop their sporting skills for themselves and reduce unemployment and crime in the society, Silvernews.com.ng reports.

Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, LP, during the 2023 Presidential Election, spoke when the leadership of the Sports foundation paid him a courtesy visit at his Onitsha Residence at the weekend.

During the visit, Obi was presented with the jersey of the Ijele Sporting Club men’s football team which will debut in the 2024/2025 Nigeria National League, NNL, the acclaimed Nigeria’s ‘most difficult league’.

After the visit, the Agulu-born Peter Obi took to his X page (previously known as Twiter) to heap praises on the vision of the founders of Ijele Sports Foundatiin which has different sporting events distributed in different states across the South East Region.

“Yesterday, (Friday 1/11/24) at my residence in Onitsha I had the pleasure of welcoming the management team of Ijele Sports Club, led by the CEO, Barr. Ferdinand Afam Naza, along with Ezeokoli Blessing Chimezie”, Obi twitted.

“Based in the vibrant city of Enugu, Ijele Sports Club is a pioneering multi-sports organisation with a mission to elevate sports in Nigeria using international standards. I learnt that Ijele SC men’s football team is eagerly set to make its debut in the Nigerian National League (NNL) on November 30, 2024.

“This milestone marks a significant achievement not only for the club but also for Nigerian youths who are passionate and dedicated to excelling in sports especially soccer. I have always maintained that sports remains a veritable tool we can use to unite the country, fight poverty and create jobs for youth unemployment.

“Nigeria is gifted with millions of very talented youths, who with the right investment in sports, will excel on the global stage. I extend my full support to Ijele Sports Club and to sports in general.

“I encourage our youths to continue to develop their sporting skills, and together, we can foster a vibrant community that celebrates and uplifts the spirit of Nigerians in new Nigeria that is POssible. -PO”.
