Nigeria Lost a Jewel in Charles Ahaotu, Says Brother

Pharmacist Kenneth Ahaotu has described the death of his late brother, Charles Chukwuemeka Ahaotu as a great loss to the entire country, Silvernews.com.ng reports.

Before his death, Late Ahaotu of Eziala Ogwu Nguru in Aboh Mbaise local government of Imo State retired as the Deputy Controller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service.

According to Pharmacist Ahaotu, his late brother lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation adding that he believed in the interest and growth of the country.

He noted that his late brother will be greatly missed owing to his tremendous impacts during his lifetime believing that he is resting in the bossom of the Lord.

“Umungo lost a son, Eziala Ogwu lost a worthy son, Imo State lost an illustrious son and Nigeria lost a jewel. This is man whose singular ambition was that Nigeria will be great and overcome its challenges. He never for one day considered leaving because he believed in Nigeria could be successful and great.

“In the career he chosed and did much of his productive life, he worked very hard. He is a very intelligent man, a very cerebral person, he is someone you can trust that before he says anything, he would have thought it through and this brother is hardly ever wrong.

“I have known him all my life. At a point in the last 10-15 years, we grew quite close that we were able to share a lot of things. We were open to ourselves. We could share very deep thoughts. There is nothing you can say that would expressly describe him but all I can say is that a good man has gone. One of the best of us has gone, one of the persons that we look forward to is gone.

“The school he went to in Russia is equivalent to Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States. This is Russia’s equivalent of MIT. During his time there, he made me know the extent, the respect and he was one of the persons that made Russians respect black people.

“After each semester in his class, his lecturers will be surprised when he answers questions and they would be asking other Russian students, how can you be here and this black boy will be doing this. He really showed his mettle. They wanted him to stay back because they saw what he was. But my brother loved Nigeria, loved his family, loved where his parents and didn’t want to go away.

“One of the good things that happened to him was that he encountered Christ and made a very tremendous change in him. Jesus Christ perfected the imperfections that were in him.

“There is nobody who interacted with him that can say without any selfish purpose that there is a guile in this man, Charles Ahaotu. Everybody that said anything contrary is because they have selfish intentions and being whom he is, he didn’t allow them to take advantage of him or his position because he was an upright person. He stood all his service, there is no guile anybody can say he did this or that.

“He was meant to be the Controller General but he accepted it that way, he never did any evil thing to climb to that office. We painfully mourn what we consider as an ultimely departure because we needed him in our family, community, Imo State and Nigeria but then the need that heaven has of him, is more paramount. His works continues to live beyond him.”
