The Sole Administrator of Ahiazu Mbaise local government in Imo State, Hon. Larry Chikwe has described the annual Iri Ji Mbaise as the festival that unites the people of Mbaise, Silvernews.com.ng reports.
According to Chikwe, the 2024 Iri Ji Mbaise, which was chaired by the Central Planning Committee of Dr Kachi Nwoga, organized one of the best ceremonies in the history of the festival.
He noted that the festival has further proved the unity among the people of Mbaise noting that it will be a misdirection for individuals to bring segregation or sentiments.
“It was one of the best well organized both security wise and people have been calling to testify the arrangements and set up.
“It’s a tradition that unites Mbaise nation and is very open and symbolic. We have been doing it and will continue to do it. When you go to other places, they do what they are known for.
“It will be a misdirection for anybody to bring segregation or sentiments into it. It’s a traditional ceremony and it is natural that we must continue to adhere and strengthen it in any way we can.
‘In other to let those that see that we have disunity in Mbaise nation, but there is no disunity expect the ones they are bringing which we will never allow it to happen.
‘We thank God for it. The evidence is something to celebrate. I want to thank the Ezeji, led by Dr Kachi Nwoga, whose contribution made it to be a realistic Iri Ji. My thanks go to Eze Ndi Mbaise and also Dr Okwudiri Nwandu.”
