Silversports Football Club of Mbaise yesterday narrowly lost by 3-2 to Jobisports FA in the ongoing Kanu Nwankwo Under 19 Championship in the South East.

The Mbaise news makers took the lead in the opening five minutes of the game before a defensive error gifted Izi Sports the equalizer in the 25th minute.

Silversports trailed at the break 2-1 and on resumption of play, two free kicks from Jobisports FA dead ball specialists made the difference in the game.

The Mbaise boys, who are competing in an organized competition in the state for the first time appreciated former Africa Footballer of the year Ambassador Kanu Nwankwo for the opportunity to showcase their skills to the world.

On his part, the CEO of Silvernews Communications and Proprietor of the team, Mr Kennedy Onwunali said he decided to expose the boys to the world of football as part of his promise to help in the development of grassroots football in Mbaise nation.

He promised that the team will be in shape before the commencement of the Imo State Football Association League.

The football administrator called on the people of the area to rally around the young boys and assist them out of vices through sports as he hinted that the female team will be launched soon to give the girl child a sense of belonging in the state.
