The President of the Ex Iwuanyanwu Nationale Players Association, Isaac Mbika has revealed plans of the association to hold Secondary Schools Football Competition in Imo State, Silvernews.com.ng reports.
According to Mbika, the ex players want to give back to the society that produced them through secondary schools football competition across the state.
He noted that notable stars were product of the secondary schools which served as the academy then adding that the purpose of the competition is to catch them young.
“We just want to give back to the society what society gave to us because most of us are products. We deem it necessary that this competition will marry secondary schools because I am a product of secondary school.
“I remember 20-25 years ago when we did not have an academy. Our academy was secondary schools to catch them young. We want to see whether we can use that opportunity to get good players and get them oversees because we have the talents in secondary schools.
“Before the boy could open his eyes, you will grab him and polish him. Assuming I didn’t go through secondary school and they saw me playing school games, by now I would have been a dropout. In secondary schools, you will see the best players.”
