As the 2023/2024 season of the Nigeria Women Football League NWFL, Premiership comes to an end on Wednesday April 24, 2024 across the various centres, Rivers Angels will be hosted by relegation threatened Ekiti Queens at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium., Ado-Ekiti.

The Jewel of Rivers are the only team in group B to have confirmed qualification for the Super Six before the last round of matches on Wednesday after beating fierce rivals Bayelsa Queens in their last game.

Defender, Ifeoma Ikenokwalu, while speaking with Rivers Angels Media, says as a team, they will play to win for their pride on Wednesday and to enjoy the luxury of their match bonuses.

Ikenokwalu insisted that she and her teammates did not travel from Port Harcourt to Ekiti to lose the match. Rather, they came to win and have their complete match bonuses

“We are very well prepared for the match, we are looking forward to doing our best as usual, win the match because we are playing for pride and for our match bonuses.”

“We need the match bonus, its very important and that’s why we are playing. We pray we win on Wednesday so that the match bonus will count for us. We didn’t travel all the way from Port Harcourt to Ekiti to come and lose focus.”

Also speaking ahead of the match is Rivers Angels attacker, Blessing Okpe who scored one of the goals in the 2-0 win in the reverse fixture in Port Harcourt, says she believes she can score again when both sides meet on Wednesday.

“As a player, I’m here with one target, which is to help my team get the 3pts. I scored in the first leg, and I expect to score again on Wednesday.”

Okpe dismissed the insinuation that Rivers Angels have nothing to play for on Wednesday but insisted that as a team, every point counts for them and also build their profile.

“I do not accept that we have nothing to play for on Wednesday because every point counts for Rivers Angels, as an individual and as team, we belive that every match counts, our profile matters alot and we won’t take Wednesday’s match for granted”.
