Both NLO teams and non league teams have been slugging it out against each other in an NLO pre-season football tournament for the past few weeks at the famous 1905 Bukuru Mini Stadium in Jos South LGA.
Today, a very competitive semi final game was played between NLO side Ben Akwuegbu FC and non league side Deluxe FC.
Not too many teams in today’s football worldwide will have the nerve, the doggedness and the braveness to bounce back from 3-0 down to dramatically win on penalties to zoom to the final.
Such was the remarkable showing put up by Ben Akwuegbu FC players after they found themselves 3-0 down as John Patrick scored a hat trick for Deluxe FC to make it almost impossible for Ben Akwuegbu FC players to think of a come back.
However, Ben Akwuegbu FC’s path to redemption began with Mubarak Salawudeen reducing the deficit to make it 3-1.
Skilful forward Habib Adedayo who is the top scorer with 8 goals would later score twice to complete the remarkable come back for the NLO side Ben Akwuegbu FC to force the game into penalties.
It was quite a marathon penalty shootouts as Ben Akwuegbu FC won 7-6 to book a spot in Saturday’s final against Ajester FC.
Ajester have beaten Vom Vet Rovers in the other semi final to reach the final.
The final between Ben Akwuegbu FC and Ajester FC is scheduled for Saturday, 6th of April,2024.
Meanwhile, the management of Ben Akwuegbu FC are assuring their fans both far and near that the final match will be Livestream on their Facebook page by 2pm to enable them watch proceedings live from the famous 1905 Bukuru Mini Stadium in Jos.
