During the mid-season break, Rivers Angels’ head coach scouted a young star, who would later take the league by storm from Young Talent 99 in Lagos.

The 14-year-old girl soon debuted in the top-flight league on February 15th, 2023, against FC Robo in Port Harcourt and turned to pure gold that would soon capture the world’s attention.

Peace Effiong scored Rivers Angels’ only goal in the match against FC Robo, and she promised to score more goals for Rivers Angels with the help of her teammates.

On the 16th of February 2023, death snatched Peace Effiong’s mother, leaving her with two siblings and her father.

After scoring the only goal of Rivers Angels on Wednesday against Edo Queens, Peace dedicated her goal to her late mum. She said she would have wished her mother was alive, but it wasn’t so.

“I feel happy and excited to score today for my team in my first away match. I want to dedicate this goal to my late mum, I wish she was here, but I still thank God. ”

“It was not the result we wanted, but we know that we are still going to make it to the Super Six.”

Peace Effiong has always been vocal about her wishes to score more goals for Rivers Angels, and she also reiterated it after the match against Edo Queens.

“I wish to score more goals if I get the chance to score, and with the help of my teammates, I know they will help me.”
