The DPO in charge of Ikeduru Divisional Police Headquarters, CSP Goodluck Ohiole, has visited the member representing Ikeduru State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Chief Johnleoba Iheoha, at the Assembly complex to chat a way forward for the Constituency.
In his speech, Hon Johnleoba, thanked the DPO and specifically appreciated the Imo State Commissioner of Police , CP Danjuma Aboki, for assembling a team of dedicated and committed Officers that are working round the clock to rid the State of Criminal Elements, especially, tackling the menace of Arm Robbery, Kidnapping, Car-snatching and challenge of “Unknown Gunmen”.
He commended the efforts of the Nigerian Police, Imo State Command for their efforts in ensuring Security and Safety of lives and property of citizens in the State, pointing out that they have almost become issues of the past.
The Lawmaker appealed to his Constituents to continue to resist the urge to commit Crime and to report suspicious activities to the Police, appealing to them to continue to support the vision driven leadership of His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma.
According to the Ikeduru Lawmaker, who is also the House Committee Chairman on Commerce and Industry, his efforts are geared towards forming a synergy with the Police by providing Security Backup.
“So you can consolidate in carrying out your assigned duties, in protecting lives and property, as DPO in Ikeduru Police Division. The responsibility of securing lives and property in Ikeduru Local Government should not and cannot be left alone in the hands of the Police.”
The Lawmaker said, pointing out that collaborative effort should be encouraged so as to achieve optimum results.
Meanwhile, earlier introducing his mission, the DPO, CSP Goodluck Ohiole, lauded the Lawmaker for his efforts in getting Youths of Ikeduru involved in genuine Economic and Academic Activities, through Business Empowerment and Sponsorship in Schools.
The DPO commended the Imo State House of Assembly for promoting Good Governance, by collaborating with the Executive, through passing people oriented Bills and Motions, and also promoting Policies that have impacted positively on the lives of people of the State.
“I am honored to visit your Office. It is a rare privilege. I appreciate the vital role that the Imo State House of Assembly is playing in the Legislative Affairs, by making Laws, sponsoring Motions, and even promoting Policies that our society is shaped for its well being and development, and for securing lives and property.
“The protection of lives and property, and maintaining law and order, which is the core mandate of the Police, is actually indeed a shared responsibility that requires active involvement of everyone.
“In recognizing this naked fact, I, as DPO Ikeduru Police Division, have visited to interface with you, as Lawmaker representing Ikeduru State Constituency, to chat on ways to fostering better, stronger and more unique partnership in implementing Community Policing initiative for making Ikeduru safer.
“It is by doing this that together we can make Ikeduru beacon of Unity, Peace, Development and Prosperity. Without security, there will be no Peace and Development.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Danjuma Aboki, has practically provided us with the enabling tools to fight Crime in the State, and I am particularly proud of him.
“He adopted both kinetic and non-kinetic approach, which has reduced Crime activities in the State, and Criminal Elements are all on the run.
“Furthermore, our CP established close synergy with other Security Agencies in Intelligence Sharing, Joint Operations etc, as well as cooperation and support of the State Government.
“Through these initiatives, we have achieved successes in reducing Crimes and sustaining peace”.
CSP Goodluck Ohiole stated, adding that the Lawmakers efforts at Youth Empowerment in the Area has assisted greatly in reducing criminal activities.
