His Lordship Bishop Simeon Nwobi Inspires Catholic Youths at Surprise Visit to CYON, Ahiara Diocese, Encouraged Participation in the MPR Facilitated Google Digital Skills Training Scholarship
Ahiara Mbaise, Imo State, February 4, 2024- In a landmark gesture, His Lordship Bishop Simeon Nwobi paid a surprise visit to the Catholic Youths Organization of Nigeria (CYON), Ahiara Diocese on Saturday, February 3rd. The visit took place during the organization’s February meeting, attended by enthusiastic youth representatives from various parishes.
The youths expressed immense joy and excitement at being the first diocesan organization to receive a visit from Bishop Simeon Nwobi. This unexpected visit underscores the bishop’s commitment to prioritizing youth issues within the Diocese.
During his address to the youths, Bishop Nwobi emphasized the crucial role that young people play as the vanguard of evangelization and development. He encouraged them to strive for excellence and take advantage of opportunities available to them. Notably, the Bishop highlighted the Mbaise Policy Roundtable (MPR) and its collaboration with Africa Universities Fund Inc a Google partner organization, to offer digital skills training scholarships. He urged the youths to promptly apply for this program, emphasizing the significance of skills in agriculture, education, digital literacy, and ICT.
Bishop Nwobi also pledged to collaborate with individuals and organizations like MPR to foster progress and development within Mbaise and support the youth in their aspirations.
During her comment, Her Excellency Professor Viola Onwuliri, expressed gratitude on behalf of the youths, acknowledged the Bishop’s dedication in taking time out of his busy schedule to address and bless them. She echoed the call for the youths to remain prayerful and law-abiding, emphasizing the importance of these values in their journey towards personal and communal growth.
