A former Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Rabiu Ladodo has said that football unifys Nigerians irrespective of tribe and religion, Silversnews.com.ng reports.
Ladodo said the performance of the Super Eagles at the ongoing AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire is uniting the country for the success of the team.
He called on Nigerians to embrace one another in harmony, peace and joy amidst their political leanings, tribe and religion.
“Football is a unifying factor in Nigeria. Look at our players, nobody is talking about tribe. They are talking as Nigerian players. And like other issues in Nigeria politics, you keep on hearing because I am an Hausa man, Igbo man or Yoruba man.
“But do you hear that in football? No. All Nigerians are cheering our players over their victory. Nobody is mentioning a particular name among our players.”
