A retired Deputy Inspector General of Police,Abdulmajid Ali has expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will beat Cameroon in the 2023 AFCON Round of 16, Silvernews.com.ng
Ali equally expressed confidence in the ability of the team to prove their mettle in the crunch encounter billed for Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan on Saturday night.
He called on the Nigeria Football Federation to appoint indigenous coaches for the team and ensure that local based players are discovered for the team for subsequent years.
“I think their match with Cameroon will show the stuff they are made of. I’m so confident that they will come out victorious.
“Actually, we haven’t seen much of the Super Eagles. We don’t actually know the pattern they are playing. We even said we have the smartest attackers but we have not seen anything from them.
“I hope that with this strong match, they will show us the stuff they are made of. We have the problem of changing coaches. We should have a permanent coach. Nigeria is of age now not to have such people. We have coaches here that can handle this Super Eagles.
“I think after this competition, we just start from grassroots and start nurturing new boys and not to rely on these foreign players every time. We should have a team that we will call our own, the local boys that will play together and understand themselves.”
