An ex-player of Stationery Stores, Nigerdock, Ashanti Kotoko and Stade Abidjan, Austin Akpehe said that Nigerians won’t be happy with the current board of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, if the Super Eagles fail to perform at the 2023 AFCON, Wakawaka Sports Extra reports.
The Founder of Galaxy Sports Development China and Galaxy Sports Academy Nigeria noted that the NFF needs to take a drastic change with the Super Eagles set-up adding that it has proven not to work over time.
The UEFA Licensed Coach, Agent and Consultant decried the mismanagement of the Nigeria Premier Football League by past administrators for the inability to have NPFL players in the current Super Eagles team.
“I think the NFF will plan and take drastic action if they did not reach a certain stage. if they don’t deliver, they have to change. What they have there is not working and repeating the same errors.
“If the coach fails, we all are going to turn on Ibrahim Gusau because he is on the hot seat and he also said it that the success of Super Eagles is the sucesss of the NFF.
“Sports Administration in other country is difference and so large. Over there in Europe, you must not play football to the top level to become a football administrator. You must be good in your business and be able to manage people. They look at that and then give you the job.
“In our country, it’s quite different. It’s all about politics. You find people that has nothing to do with football and not also up there put in positions. Football administration in Nigeria is not something one is proud of and the ones that have that knowledge and passion are left aside.
“I think I will hail the current management of the NPFL, they are trying and doing a good job. Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye is trying to bring change. The greed by administrators over the years has affected our football over time. This has made us not develop players for the senior national team.”
