Head Coach of Imo State Taekwondo, Grand Master Kuba Classy has revealed that plans are underway to hold the first ever South-East International Taekwondo Coaching Course, Wakawaka Sports Extra reports.
Classy, who was the first Nigerian to study world martial art in Korean University said the coaching course will groom stars in the zone that can represent the zone in global competitions.
The Head Coach, who was responsible for grooming Olympic Taekwondo Medalist, Chika Chukwumerije regretted the politicking in the country that has neglected the zone in the scheme of things.
He said: “Most of the things they are doing in Abuja and Lagos, I don’t know why they have been avoiding to communicate with us. We have ignored what they are doing at the national and try to create our own in the South-East.
“We are trying to organise international coaching course next year by March at the Dan Anyiam Stadium through the grand master Ikpeme, one of the founding fathers of taekwando. We are going to start international coaching course championship and also personality recognition award.
“We will not mind what they are doing at the national to make sure we groom people who can represent us internationally and sponsor ourselves. I know our able government can do that.
“Everything have gone political. When it comes to the championship, I’m the only international referee in the South-East. Most of our people don’t want to spend money for international referring course.
“I’m the first Nigerian to study world martial art in Korean University. When I came back from South Korea, I applied to be a national coach but was thrown away. The international coaching course will help us and start from the scratch so that those in the South-East can participate.”
