Sir Stanley Amuchie, the Executive Director of Fidelity Bank has demanded for safe environment for sports to thrive in Nigeria.
Speaking with Wakawaka Sports Extra on Global FM Sports Update, Sir Amuzie noted that insecurity issues has hindered sports development in the country.
According to the financial expert, investors and sponsors will be willing to invest in sports in the country if the security issues are stablised.
He added that Nigerians, who are sports loving people will come out in their numbers at various sports complex and stadium adding that there are lot potentials to harness.
“Sports thrives in an environment that has adequate security. But where people are not comfortable with schemes here and there, it doesn’t encourage that level of participation.
“Nigeria is a very sports loving country. We will continue to work hard to achieve a level of secured environment for sports to thrive. We also need to see organisations sponsor sports and when they do that, it increases the activities within the sports environment. There are different activities within sports but I believe those who do the marketing and others.
“If we are able to harness the value chain of sports in this country, I believe that a lot of people will be in that space and make money out of it.
“We pray and will work hard, I believe that in years to come not too far from now, things will start stabilising and security will return to the country in a way people will want to go through a sports complex and stadium with all their family members without any fear.
“When we get there, a lot of things will happen. The crowd will be there, the followership will be there and the sponsorship will be there. We have the numbers, we have the love because Nigerians are sports loving.”
