Sam Decent FC win Imo State Football League

Sam Decent FC of Owerri on Saturday emerged champions of the 2023 Imo State Football League after a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Emmanuel FC of Orlu at the Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri.

The team that have been around for ten years, did not drop points on their way to the final starting with a 2-0 victory over Paris FC.

They went on to play a 1-1 draw against CENN FC in her second game and topped their group with seven points after a 3-2 Victory over Amicable FC to set up a remarkable encounter with giant killers of the league Emmanuel FC, who took the league by storm.

The Owerri-based side defeated their counterparts from Orlu by 2-1 to become the new champions of the state.

Speaking to Wakawaka Sports Extra after the game, CEO of the fast-rising team, Mr Amaforonye Samuel Onyekachi, said his purpose of setting up the team is to help discover hidden talents in the state by starting with the Under 13- 17 and the senior teams.

Meanwhile, players of the Owerri-based team, who have been together for a long time promised to make the state proud at the zonal elimination play-off later in the year noting that preparations for the zonal games will begin immediately.
