The umbrella body of journalists and media practitioners from Mbaise nation in Imo State, Nigeria, Federation of Mbaise Media Professionals, FMMP, has called on politicians, especially the governorship candidates of the various political parties in the state to go about their consultations and political campaigns ahead of the November 11, 2023 election devoid of bitterness and rancor.
We equally congratulate all the gubernatorial candidates for successfully emerging as the standard bearers of the various political parties for the off season governorship election in Imo State.
As media professionals, we also call on all critical stakeholders in the forthcoming election viz: the government, security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the political parties, to ensure there is level playing ground and equal opportunities for all parties and candidates.
Imo is known for peace and should do everything possible to have peaceful campaigns and election. This will encourage the electorate to come out and freely cast their votes on the Election Day.
It is our hope that the various candidates will start engaging the media on issues that impact directly on the citizens, such as security, employment/job creation, healthcare, education and agriculture among others.
Let us all join hand s and create the Imo we dream to have.
