Standard Tennis Development Club of Owerri will today take on Onitsha Sports Club in the final of the ENIC Tennis League hosted by Owerri Sports Club.
They defeated defending champions Orlu Recreation Club by 3-2 to get to the final for her 3d time in the history of the ENIC tennis extravaganza won last in Nnewi three years ago.
Meanwhile, Onitsha Sports Club, who won in Owerri four years ago for the first time when Standard hosted defeated Nnewi sports club by 4-1
The Onitsha side will want to make history for the second time when they troop to the court today.
An indication of what to expect at the final was on display during the special stakeholders dinner at Protea Hotels Owerri, last night, as stakeholders promised to uplift the standard of the game and drive for more sponsorship as the tournament goes into its Silver Jubilee celebration next year.
Wakawaka Sports Extra reports that before the final, the nation number one tennis player, Uchenna Oparaoji will take to the court with Samuel Akagha to entertain tennis players in Enic for the first time in the history of the 24-year-old competition having been a product of the junior league.
Other highlight of day one was the instructions of other demonstration games to the delight of everyone who traveled from every part of the country down to the city of Owerri for the extravaganza as members of the host club are hosting the extravaganza for the first time.
