The former majority leader of the Imo State House of Assembly and member for Owerri Municipal Council during Governor Ikedi Ohakim’s administration, Hon Clinton Amadi has pledged to prioritise sports if reelected into the State House of Assembly.
Hon. Amadi, who is seeking reelection under the Labour Party said the Labour Party Presidential candidate will galvanise and harness talents in the world of sports and build standard football academies.
The Technical Director of YSFON in the state noted that he will elevate the competition which has produced super stars in the world of sports.
While pledging to ensure separation of powers among the three tiers of government, he noted that he will sought to become the Speaker of Speakers to make it a reality.
“I feel delighted because football is one of the things that develop Imo State. I have been the Technical Director of this federation since 2004. I know how many professional footballers we have raised from YSFON like Kelechi Iheanacho and most of them.
“We have done so much in football that we have developed our brothers and useful wherever they are today. We have myriad of players in Imo State. What we need is government assitance to promote them and be useful in their life.
“When I came here, I saw myriad of people who are Obidient and very Yusful and ready to make sure that there is a new Nigeria and who are ready to comply and conform with the latest policy that will make Nigeria a better place.
“We also promise them that in the dispensation, which is 2023 we will do this condition for four years straight without stopping.
“I’m going to fund it, elevate this competition to a greater height more than it is. I’m going to make sure I promote my brothers in Owerri Municipal and non-indigenes to make sure they get better place in football.
“In the world of sports, we have a lot of productive youths, waste talents that have not been galvanised, harnessed. In this period of the new government, we are going to build football academies of world standard that will accommodate these talents that are wasting.
“We don’t want out talents to die without achieving their aim. Our aim is to make sure that every talent in Nigeria is exposed and explored. In football we are going to make sure that the country experience a tremendous boost in ecomony from football.
“I believe in Imo State, especially Owerri Municipal has myriad of talents to explore to the world. We are going to make sure that the production from football will be greater than the consumption.
“There is a lot of things I’ve to accomplish and one of them is to ensure separation of powers in Nigeria. I went to the House of Assembly for the first time as an ordinary member by God’s grace I rose to the Majority Leader and I know that the Speaker of all Speakers of Nigeria will give me a better position to discuss about the separation of powers.
“We want the powers to be properly separated so that things can work in Nigeria. If power is separated and funds are separated, every arm will work independently to make sure that Nigeria grows to a greater height.”
