The Coalition For Justice, Peace And True Democracy, a socio-political pressure group, has called for the investigation of former Imo Governor, Emeka Ihedioha and three others over alleged sedition.

The group, who made the call during a peaceful protest in Owerri, the Imo capital, on Thursday, also called for the investigation of former Imo Deputy Governor, Mr Gerald Irona.

They further called for the investigation of a former Member of the House of Representatives, Mr Uche Onyeaguocha and his incumbent counterpart, Mr Kingsley Uju, who represents Ohaji-Egbema, /Oru West/ Oguta federal constituency.

The group’s Spokesperson, Mr Ahumaraeze Ikechukwu, said that the group decided to call for the investigations after carefully analysing some “seditionist remarks” made by the affected persons, capable of causing civil order.

He called on relevant authorities to investigate the concerned persons in the overall interest of democracy and the Government and people of Imo.

” On July 28, 2022, Mr Uche Onyeagocha addressed Chief Emeka Ihedioha as the Imo Governor of imo at the VIP reception of the Sam Mbakwe cargo airport, an utterance Ihedioha never took exception to.

” We recall the unkind statement made by a former Deputy Governor, Gerald Irona, when he said they would ‘make Imo ungovernable’ for Gov. Hope Uzodimma.

” We will not relent if requisite action is not taken; we will resist all attempts at treason to Imo people and hopefully, our cry to save our democracy from impending danger will be hearkened to.

” We therefore call on President Muhammadu Buhari to save the democracy in Imo by investigating them in the interest of our democracy and our state “, he said.

Reacting, Onyeagucha said: “I have no intentions of sedition. I have always referred to him, Ihedioha, as the authentic governor elected by Imo voters.”

Also, Ihedioha’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Chibuike Onyekwu, said: “It is petty and laughable for Uzodinma to turn around and accuse Chief Emeka Ihedioha, Irona and other innocent and patriotic citizens and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Imo of fanning insecurity.

” This is one of the sponsored antics by Governor Hope Uzodimma and his cohorts to divert the attention of the public from the failures of his administration.

” A few weeks ago, he sponsored the fake news against Ihedioha, alleging that he attacked Mr Peter Obi and the Igbo. This was aimed at pitching Ihedioha against the people but it failed”, he said.
