The Coordinator and Sporting Director, Abia Angels Football Club of Aba, David Silva, has commended the efforts of the board of the Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL.
In a chat with Wakawaka Sports Extra, the Abia Angels supremo rated high the leadership of the league by Aisha Folade despite the paucity of funds at her disposal.
He went further to commend them for their giant strides in ensuring a new sponsor runs the affairs of the league, which he believes will mitigate the incessant issues of remuneration for match officials.
Silva believes that the Super Six play off will be intriguing because the participating teams will give their best.
He said: “I must commend the efforts of the NWFL board, especially Aisha Folade who has been marvelously doing well. They have been very great. In the past years, they have struggled a lot to pay match commissioners, referees and to keep the season running which is not easy.
“It’s a big progress to the Nigeria Women Football League and a testimony of the struggle of the past. It is also an added value to the NWFL. For this sponsorship to come, it will bring more sponsors which will the Nigeria female football to have a standard to the core.
” I appreciate the sponsors because they have really tried and won’t regret having interest in the league. I also give kudos to NFF to make sure the league grows.
“I know that it will be a different super league entirely because so many things have been provided especially through the sponsorship and it’s going to be played at ease.
“It’s not going to be struggling and at the end we will know which team will represent us in the continent.”
