The Hon. Princess Mirian Onuoha, HPMO, Prosperity Football Competition for Okigwe North super six kicks off today, 26th April 2022, with super six matches at the Okigwe Township Stadium where the best losers will join the three qualified teams in the semi-finals.
The fixtures will see Osu Owerri take on Black Stars of Onuimo by 4pm while Osuachara trade tackles with Ihube United on the 27th of April 2022. Aku Golden Boys takes on Giant Killers of Onuimo in the last game of the round on the 28th of April 2022.
The competition which began two months ago has already began to produce the dividend it was meant for as the legislator representing Okigwe North in the Green Chamber has gone on to form and sponsor players discovered at the tournament in her pet project, HPMO FC.
According to Princess Mirian, her decision to embark on the project was borne out of her passion for the teeming youths in her constituency.
She said: “As a mother I don’t sleep well when I see wasted talent around me growing up. I know alot of youths in my community who would have become Nigeria and world sports icons but couldn’t get to the height they would envisaged because there was no opportunities for them.
“I made a vow to my God that if I win at the polls to represent my people, I will not allow such to keep happening.
Today we have began the next edition which will have all the components of sports in the programme for youths of Okigwe North that are blessed with sporting skills.
“They will not suffer again as we have great plans to turn our area to sports hub of the world.” She told Wakawaka Sports Extra.
