NNL Wk8: Dede,Taiwo Deliver as Bendel Insurance beat Campos FC 2-1

Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin, weekend showed strength and strong character to beat Campos FC of Owerri 2-1 in the Nigeria National League matchday eight game in Benin.

The Benin Arsenal came from behind to beat the hard fighting visitors who shocked their them in the 39th minute of the game following an unstoppable rocket shot from their striker Ikenna.

The 39th minute heartbreaking goal against the Insurers was only allowed to celebrated for just five minutes as Insurance swiftly responded with left back Dede Muoghara levelling up for the host with a fine free kick a minute before the break in the game described by some spectators as a clash of the titans.

The Benin Arsenal had created several pscoring Chances but were unlucky to convert them as Zaidu Ayuba, Sarki Ismael and Maurice Prince missed chances left their fans wondering. The 67th minute long range strike by right back Odinaka Edeh which hit the bar before bouncing out looked to have crossed the goal line but was ignored by the match officials, increasing the pressure on the home team.

Substitute Taiwo Oripelaye delivered for his new club in the 78th minute when he camly headed home Dede Muoghara’s fine pull out from the left flank to seal the 2-1 victory for the Insurers.

Insurance now have 15 points to maintain their second position on the group B1 log after the victory,three points behind group leaders Gateway Utd who also defeated their visitors Adoration FC 3-0 same day to garner 18 points.

The Benin Arsenal will next weekend be guests to Abeokuta Stormers who recorded their first away victory of the season at Osun Utd at the weekend.
