The newly crowned champions of the maiden edition of the Soccer Queens Cup, which was held in Lokoja Kogi State, Imo Striker Queens, on Thursday, paid a courtesy visit to the Imo State FA Chairman in Owerri.
The FA Chairman, Amanze Uchegbulam received the champions, ably led by the General Manager of the team Prince Chidi Coordinator Nelly Orisakwe and media cordinactor of the team Kennedy Onwunali.
According to Orisakwe, the team made the courtesy call to present the trophy they won, despite embarking on the trip to Lokoja without prior notification.
Orisakwe said, ” We want to sincerely say that we are sorry for not informing the FA about the tournament because it was not intentional. Subsequently, we will notify the FA.
” The tournament took place in Lokoja where we represented the South-East zone. We have come to present the trophy and our players won the MVP and Highest Goal Scorer.”
In his response, Uchegbulam was full of praises to the team, noting that he will ensure some of them get called up to the various cadre in the national team.
He also encouraged them to take their academics seriously, noting that it’s the bedrock of a successful person.
He said ” I’m happy for you guys. I can see young faces and football is your interest but don’t joke with your academics.
“It’s good to let us know to make adequate preparations for the team. You have made us proud.
” The MVP is another Super Falcons player in the making. We will ensure we take her to the U-17 and monitor her progress.
” All the players that performed very well will be appreciated and given support.”
