The Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Imo state, Hon. Dan Chike Ogu on Thursday hosted Imo Striker Queens Fc, the newly crowned champions of the recently concluded Soccer Queens Cup 2022 that held in Kogi state in his office as players, coaches and management of the club paid him a thank you cum trophy presentation visit.
The club’s Chief Executive Officer, Prince Chidi was full of praises for the Governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodimma and “the golden commissioner”, Hon. Dan Ogu for the massive support the Shared Prosperity Government has been giving to the club which has been fruitful with trophies in recent months an evidence.
The Sports Chief heaped praises on the club made up of fantastic young players for the feats they’ve achieved since the club was founded in the year 2021.
“I heartily congratulate Imo Striker Queens Fc for being crowned champions of the maiden editionof the Soccer Queens Cup 2022. This title is, no doubt, the result of hard work, passion, and commitment, and everyone at the club can be proud of this important achievement. I congratulate everybody involved, whom I encourage to continue working with team spirit, passion, and determination”, Ogu said.
Hon. Ogu assured the team that they will continue to get the much needed support from the sports loving governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodimma through his huge investment in youth and sports development.
The Imo games master after being presented with the golden trophy doled out cash rewards to the club as they also produced the Most Valuable Player of the tournament as well as the Highest Goal Scorer.
The highlight of the event was the payment of WAEC registration fees for over ten players of the team by the Sports Commissioner on behalf of the state government as he encouraged the girls to focus on their academics as they do their football careers and the sky will be their stepping stone.
