Two years in office: Hon Dan Ogu congratulates Governor Hope Uzodimma

Hon. Dan Chike Ogu on behalf of my family, the management and staff of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development heartily congratulate the exemplary, quintessential and pragmatic Governor of Imo state, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma on the auspicious occasion of his second anniversary in office that’s filled with impressive, sterling and successful performances.

I am delighted and pleased that Imolites are becoming increasingly in love with your Shared Prosperity Government of the people.

Your love for the youths of our dear Imo state knows no bounds as shown in your youth oriented policies and empowerment programmes.

In the area of sports development, your huge investments are yielding fruits as the once comatose sports sector has been revived in the spirit of your 3R mantra.

Because of your love for sports, the dilapidated Dan Anyiam Stadium has been reconstructed and refurbished with state of art facilities. The basketball court was reconstructed and a new one built in partnership with the Imo Basketball Veterans.

The Imo Grasshoppers Handball Team was revived and won bronze in the recently concluded Prudent Energy Handball League in Abuja and will represent Nigeria at the 2022 African Clubs Winners Cup in far away Niamey, Niger Republic, in April.

A first of its kind Olympic sized swimming pool is nearing completion. Games like taekwondo, kung fu, judo, chess, archery, swimming, scrabble, squash, tennis, cricket, hockey have all been revived. The volleyball court, hockey court and the Handball stadium are set to undergo reconstruction. The indoor sports hall is working again.

Under your watchful eyes, we have one of the best TeqBallers in Nigeria and Africa, another first in Imo state.

Due to your massive support, barely one year in office, Imo state achieved its best results at the National Sports Festival in a long while, placing first among the states from the Southeast during the Edo 2020 National Sports Festival.

Imo para athletes also featured at the paralympics in Japan last year and they did well. We participated at the National Youth Games in Ilorin, Kwara state and gave a good account.

Sports and youth development has been taken to the grassroots as we continue to unearth talents and harness them to become global champions.

Heartland Football Club and Heartland Queens Fc are doing well as we target continental participation next season. Your excellent achievements in two years are numerous to mention and unrivalled.

May God bless you more with strength, grace and wisdom to continue to give sterling leadership to Ndi Imo and Nigerians at large.
