Air Vice Marshall Cletus Udeagulu of the Nigerian Airforce has said that sport is an essential part of a military personel because it helps keep them fit and mentally alert.
AVM Udeagulu who represented the cheif of air staff Air Marshall Isiaka Amao at the welcome golf kitty for Air Vice Marshall Frank Opara AOC ground training command and the official unveiling of hole 11 at the Enugu golf club said this in his speech during the grand ceremony.
Udeagulu said “Sport is a premium in the military because it helps keep the military physically fit and mentally alert.
because of this, the chief of air staff Air Marshal Isika Amao, distinguished Flaying star deemed it necessary to send a representative to honour the ground training commander, the son of the soil, Air vice Marshall Frank opara.
I want to on behalf of the Nigerian air force appreciate the Enugu golf course for giving the Nigerian air force the honour of having the hole 11.
I am still waiting to hear the scores because anybody that played a beddy on that hole today, the chief of the air staff is going to do something so when the result are complied I want to know if anybody has a beddy there.
If you noticed, the hole 11 is a peculiar hole, the hole is on top of the mini hill, because the air force loves to climb so that’s why the hole is peculiar so if we have a beddy on that hole today, the chief of the air staff directed me to say something.
So i want to say once again, thank you to the Enugu golf course the Enugu State sports council and by extension to the Enugu state government for the support they have given to the Nigerian air force so far and the support they have given to the new A.O.C.
The Nigerian air force will continue to maintain the safety and security of the Nigerian territory, its our constitutional duty, I also want to quickly appreciate some individual that are here the president of the 36 regular court of the defense academy in the person of general Ononita peter , I want to appreciate him for taking time to be here, there are also several senior officers who has travel far and wide to be here .
I cannot appreciate everybody individually but collectively I want to thank all the senior officers both serving and retired that have taken time to be with us here today.
Lastly I Appreciate all the golfers who came out en-mass to witness this occasion despite the harsh hot weather, everyone who started in hole one finished in hole 18.
