The South East Basketball Association has congratulated Nigerian basketball talents Ugonna Onyenso, Ebuka Okoria, Zubia Ejiofor and Felix Opara on their NBA Draft achievements, describing their success as a reward for hard work, dedication and commitment to the development of basketball.
Onyenso was selected 53rd overall in the 2026 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets, adding his name to the growing list of Nigerian talents making the country and the South East proud on the global basketball stage.
In a congratulatory message, the South East representative on the board of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, Chief Ugo Udezue, commended the players for their achievements and said their success has created more opportunities and inspiration for young basketball players across the country.
Chief Udezue said the achievements of the players show that hard work pays, stressing that it is a result of continuous investment in the development of basketball in the region.
He noted that the South East Basketball Association has remained committed to promoting the game through various programmes, which have seen Coal City Blazers of Enugu State participate in the Nigeria Basketball Premier League and the launching of the Richard Idike Basketball Court in Abakaliki.
According to him, the association will continue to strengthen its youth development programmes and create more platforms for young talents in the zone to grow and compete at the highest level.
He wished Onyenso, Okoria, Ejiofor and Opara continued success as they take their careers to the next level and continue to represent Nigeria and the South East proudly.
