The South East Basketball Association (SEBA) has dismissed claims made by Oni Guarantor in a video alleging that there were no medical personnel available during the Nigeria Basketball Premier League (NBPL) Enugu phase, describing the claim as inaccurate.
In a statement made available to the media by the association’s Media Manager, Comrade Kennedy Onwunali, SEBA said it would ordinarily not respond to such remarks but was compelled to clarify the situation and set the record straight.
The association stated that contrary to the allegation, four medical personnel were on ground during the NBPL Enugu phase and were available to provide medical support throughout the games.
SEBA maintained that basketball in the South East has continued to grow through the dedication and commitment of stakeholders, adding that attempts to create a negative impression about the development of the sport would not distract from the progress being recorded.
The association urged those interested in the politics of basketball in the region to focus on hard work, positive contributions and building the game, allowing their achievements to earn recognition.

SEBA stressed the importance of supporting competitions that can stand the test of time and positively impact the lives of young athletes across the region.
The association also called on media practitioners and stakeholders to always verify information before publication and report based on facts.
