Imo Police Rescue Kidnapped Victim During Forest Clearance Operation in Owerri West

Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have rescued a kidnapped victim during an intelligence-led forest clearance operation carried out in parts of Owerri West Local Government Area of the state.

The operation, which took place on June 27, 2026, was led by the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, in collaboration with local vigilantes, following directives from the Inspector-General of Police through the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the South East Geopolitical Zone, DIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie.

The clearance operation covered the Nekede, Ihiagwa and Agbala axis of Owerri West LGA, with the aim of dismantling criminal hideouts and preventing criminals from using forest areas as safe havens.

During the operation, police operatives rescued an injured kidnap victim, identified as Chinonaobi Uchegbulam of Ubaha Orodo, from a forest hideout.

The victim was immediately taken to a medical facility, where he is currently receiving treatment and responding positively.
CP Bosso commended the officers and other personnel involved in the operation for their bravery and professionalism, assuring residents that the command will continue to intensify intelligence-driven operations to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.

The police command also urged residents of Imo State to remain vigilant and provide credible information on suspicious activities, adding that public cooperation remains vital in the fight against criminal elements.
