The Imo State Football Association (Imo FA) has warned football stakeholders across the state against organising or participating in competitions that are not affiliated with the association.
The warning was contained in a circular dated September 4, 2025, and addressed to the Imo FA Zonal Football Coordinators, LGA Football Administrators, Autonomous Community Football Representatives and the Imo State Football Referees Council.
The association, in the circular, directed organisers of football competitions at various levels to ensure that their tournaments are properly affiliated with the Imo FA.
It subsequently announced affiliation fees of N100,000 for state-wide competitions, N70,000 for zonal competitions, N50,000 for LGA competitions and N30,000 for Autonomous Community competitions.
The Imo FA said the measure was necessary to ensure proper coordination and regulation of football competitions across the state.
It warned that affiliates who participate in unaffiliated tournaments or competitions would face sanctions, describing defaulters as “enemies of football in Imo State.
The association advised competition organisers requiring further information or guidance to contact the Imo FA Secretariat, LGA Football Administrators, Autonomous Community Football Representatives or Zonal Coordinators.
The circular conveyed the compliments of the Chairman, Executive Committee and staff of the Imo State Football Association.
