The executive Governor of Ebonyi State Rt Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has carried out a major cabinet reshuffle said to be the highest since assuming office over three years ago.
The Ebonyi State Hon Commissioner for Information, Barr Ikeuwa Omebe brock the news to journalists shortly after the state executive council meeting held at the executive council chambers, government house on Monday 29th June, 2026.
According to the Commissioner for Information and state orientation: Hon Chidi Onyia formally Commissioner for Solid minerals is now posted to the ministry of youth and sports, Hon. Richard Idike formerly Commissioner for youth and sports is now to serve as Hon. Commissioner for capital city development and Professor Nwogo Obasi Ajuka who was Commissioner for market and parks is now to serve as the Hon Commissioner for skills development while Hon Okwu Oko Udu who until now served as the Commissioner for skills development has been posted to the ministry of market and parks development.
Others are Hon Chief Sunday Inyima from the ministry of capital city development to the ministry of project monitoring, Hon. Victor Uzoma Chukwuma from the ministry of environment to the ministry of water resources, Hon. Nkah Chinedum Magnus from the ministry of water resources to the ministry of solid minerals, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Obichukwu, special projects, Hon. Sylvester Nwenegwu Nwite, environment and Professor Omari Omaka, commissioner for tertiary education.
Barr. Ikeuwa Omebe while briefing journalists stated that those affected by the cabinet reshuffle are to conclude their handing-over and taking- over before the close of work on 30th June, 2026. While those not affected by the cabinet reshuffle are under probation pending further cabinet reshuffle.
Earlier before the commencement of the state executive council meeting, Governor Nwifuru had sworn-in two new Commissioners: Professor Omari Omaka and Hon. Sylvester Nwenegwu Nwite, while Hon. Njoku Onyekachi Felix was sworn -in as Special assistant to the Governor on youth mobilization.
