Former Bayelsa State Commissioner for Sports, Opukiri Jones-Ere, has been elected as the new President of the Nigeria Amputee Football Federation.

Speaking shortly after his election yesterday, the sports technocrat expressed gratitude to the leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC), particularly Alhaji Shehu Dikko and Bukola Olopade, for ensuring a level playing field for all candidates and for conducting a peaceful and credible election process.

Opukiri also thanked the delegates for the confidence and trust reposed in him through their votes.

He assured members of the federation and stakeholders that he would justify the confidence placed in him by working tirelessly to take amputee football in Nigeria to greater heights.

The newly elected president emphasized his commitment to developing the sport, improving player welfare, and creating more opportunities for athletes living with disabilities to excel both nationally and internationally.
