Couples of St. John the Beloved Apostle Parish, Greenland Estate, RCC Quarters Enugu, participated in a transformative Social Emotional Learning session on Healthy Marriages & Mental Wellness facilitated by Coach Ebere Amaraizu
Organized by the Catholic Women Organization as part of their Post-August Meeting 2026, the session was themed _Building Emotionally Intelligent Homes for Sustainable Development_.
Moving beyond rhetoric, poetry, or campaigns, Coach Amaraizu delivered practical, hands-on toolkits anchored on core SEL competencies, including disputation of limiting beliefs, emotional regulation, non-judgemental communication, active listening, and communicating with empathy to help couples turn struggles into purpose.
Participants explored five pillars for thriving marriages: fighting fair without cruelty, regulating instead of escalating, understanding beneath words, repairing quickly after conflict, and staying connected under stress. The session also x-rayed the effect of lack of emotional safety on child care and development, and how to build emotionally safe homes.
An interactive Q&A session provided deeper insight, with participants stating the engagement helped them discover a better version of themselves for better and happier homes. They thanked Coach Amaraizu for the great insight and practical tools for emotional safety.
In his closing charge, Coach Amaraizu noted: “Love brings two nervous systems together, not just two hearts. Love starts a relationship, but emotional intelligence sustains it.”
