Chairman of the Mbaise Policy Roundtable, Prof. Eddie Oparaoji, has described the burial of Chief Ezinne Christiana Opara as a celebration of a remarkable life defined by faith, love, unity, discipline and generosity.
Oparaoji, who made the observation at the burial ceremony, said the event attracted an impressive gathering of family members, friends, community leaders and dignitaries, including former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan.
He noted that the solemn ceremony was transformed into a celebration of the enduring legacy of the deceased, whose life, according to him, had a profound impact on her family and community.
He was particularly impressed by the participation of more than 100 priests and religious leaders at the burial Mass, describing it as a reflection of Chief Ezinne’s deep Christian faith and God-fearing life.
According to Oparaoji, following the death of her husband in 2014, Chief Ezinne demonstrated remarkable strength and resilience by reorganising her family and entrusting the fatherly responsibilities to her son, Prof. John Kennedy Opara.
He said her commitment to love, unity, mutual respect, discipline and care became the foundation of the family, adding that these values continued to inspire her children, grandchildren and in-laws.
Oparaoji further described Chief Ezinne as a woman of remarkable generosity, humility and transformational character, whose influence extended beyond her immediate family.
The gathering was not just a farewell, but a testament to the legacy of love and community that Chief Ezinne Christiana Opara leaves behind,” he said.
He added that her life demonstrated the lasting impact an individual can make through faith, service, family values and concern for others.
Oparaoji prayed that the legacy of Chief Ezinne would continue to inspire generations, while wishing her eternal rest.
