Chairman of Cynosure Football Club, Mr. Nwaeze Prince Chidiebere, has, through his legal representatives, Lithos Legal Consult, demanded the immediate retraction and removal of what he described as a defamatory publication allegedly authored by Mazi Jaka.
In a demand letter dated July 27, 2026, and signed by Abiodun Sonaike, Esq., Partner at Lithos Legal Consult, the solicitors accused Mazi Jaka of making several false and damaging allegations in a publication circulated on July 26, 2026, following the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Disciplinary Committee’s decision on Cynosure FC’s appeal.
According to the solicitors, the publication alleged that Prince Chidiebere was planning match-fixing with Abakaliki Feeders FC, was known for pettiness, engaged in blackmail and manipulation, and should be held accountable for his actions. The legal team described the statements as false, malicious, reckless and highly defamatory, arguing that they were capable of seriously damaging their client’s reputation as a football administrator and club chairman.
The law firm further maintained that the NFF Disciplinary Committee had, after reviewing documentary evidence, upheld Cynosure FC’s appeal and set aside sanctions earlier imposed by the Nationwide League One. It argued that rather than challenge the committee’s legal reasoning, the publication resorted to personal attacks without any supporting evidence.
The solicitors demanded that within seven days of receiving the letter, Mazi Jaka should remove the publication from all platforms under his control, issue an unequivocal public retraction, publish a written apology, immediately cease making further defamatory statements, and provide a written undertaking not to repeat or republish the allegations.
The letter warned that failure to comply with the demands would result in legal proceedings seeking, among other reliefs, a declaration that the publication was defamatory, an order compelling a retraction and public apology, a perpetual injunction against further defamatory publications, general and aggravated damages for injury to reputation, the cost of the action, and any other relief the court may consider appropriate.
Lithos Legal Consult described the letter as a final opportunity to resolve the matter amicably before commencing legal action on behalf of its client.
