As Nigeria celebrates 65 years of independence, Dr. Nnamdi Ejekwumadu (Udongalasi) has called on the people of Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency and the wider Mbaise nation to use the occasion as a moment of reflection and renewed commitment to collective progress.
In his goodwill message, Dr. Ejekwumadu noted that independence goes beyond the yearly celebration, describing it as “a reminder that our strength lies in our unity, our industry, and our ability to transform challenges into opportunities.”
He praised the hardworking spirit of the people of Mbaise—farmers, traders, artisans, and professionals—while expressing concern that the benefits of governance and development have not always reached the grassroots. According to him, greater attention must be given to improving lives at the community level.
Dr. Ejekwumadu emphasized the importance of empowering youths with skills and opportunities, ensuring mothers have access to quality healthcare, and providing fathers and families with reliable infrastructure such as good roads, electricity, and markets that support local trade.
He also highlighted the need for sustainable development through industrial and economic initiatives that can create jobs and reduce dependency, stressing that true independence will be realized when progress is consistent and inclusive.
“As we celebrate this year’s Independence Day, I urge every son and daughter of Mbaise to keep faith with the vision of a stronger and more united community. Let us commit to courage, unity, and shared responsibility in building the constituency and the Nigeria of our dreams,” he said.
