Children’s Day–LGA boss charges parents to ensure  proper upbring of their children

The Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo state has celebrated the 2025 Children’s Day in grand style with a charge to parents to rise up in their responsibilities of ensuring adequate training of their children.

Presenting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s message on May 27, Amadioha said that government will always prioritize protection of the children, a step he maintained would be taken through the implementation of the “Nigeria National Plan of Action on Ending Violence Against Children.

He quoted the President as saying that the Plan launched recently “provides a comprehensive roadmap to prevent abuse, prosecute perpetrators and support victims, backed by robust financing and multi-sectoral coordination”.

Amadioha who was quite pleased with the massive turn-out and performance of the children and the efforts of teachers in seeing to the spectacular of the celebration, urged parents to groom and direct their children properly, as well as treat them well.

He said: “Cildren are special blessings, treat them with care, love, protect them always. May 27 is a remarkable day for children in all parts of the world and they feel happy socializing with their peers. It also gives them sense of belonging. Ohaji/Egbema Council plays primary role in the protection of the children”.

The Council boss stated the state government’s resolve to employ more qualified teachers into public schools to enhance quality learning, while assuring that the Council, under his administration, is going to fully bring back Scholarship Awards to intelligent pupils and students to motivate them on academic excellence and morality.

The LGA chairman  assured that dilapidated public school structures are going to be put to good shape, even as he thanked the leaders of Ezes in the locality for gracing the event which he described as worthwhile.

Amadioha reminded that as parents, its  their duties to provide the right directions to their children and not by being harsh to them.

He said: “there is no bad child. It’s the way you train your child, the same way he will be”.

He stated the essence of celebrating the school children of the area which is to make them have sense of belonging as their counterparts across the world on May 27, a day set aside to specially celebrate children Internationally.

The celebrants included nursery, primary and secondary school children from private and public schools in the locality, held March Pass with an Honor Salute to the Council Chairman, Hon. Prince Marcel Amadioha, who  cheerfully received it.

High point of the celebration was the presentation of cash prizes to the best performing schools
