The National Sports Festival Tagged GATEWAY GAMES 2025 Torch landed in Owerri the Imo state Capital on Monday 28/4/25.
The Sports Festival Olympic Torch was received by the State Commissioner for sports , Hon Obinna Onyeocha as well as the Director of the Imo state Sports Commission, Lady Justina Akpulo at the Dan Anyiam stadium .
The duo including the torch bearer ex super eagles diminutive defensive ace led the athletes as they walked from Dan Anyiam stadium to the government house to present the torch to the state governor.
In a commando style the Commissioner for sports handed the torch to the director of sports who also marched forward to deliver same to governor Hope Uzodinma.
Upon reception of the torch, the governor in a brief remark stated that the torch is a torch of unity and solidarity, he however charged the Imo athletes to go all the way during the games to win laurels for state while promising to reward them handsomely.
The event was witnessed by the deputy speaker IMO state House of Assembly, Hon Amara Iwuanyanwu, the secretary to the state government and a host of other top government functionaries too numerous to mention.
The gateway games is billed to commence from the 15/5/25 in Ogun state.
