Ezinihitte FC will face Ahiazu Mbaise in the final of the Mbaise Top Seed Football Competition after finishing the group stage with six points from four games. Despite a slow start to their campaign, Ezinihitte displayed remarkable resilience to emerge as group leaders.
Their journey began with a 0-0 draw against Aboh Mbaise at home, followed by another goalless stalemate with Ahiazu Mbaise. However, Ezinihitte bounced back with a crucial 1-0 victory over Aboh Mbaise in their third game. They concluded the group stage with another 0-0 draw, this time against Ahiazu Mbaise, securing their place in the final.
Ezinihitte FC topped the group with six points, while Ahiazu Mbaise claimed the second spot with four points from four games. Ahiazu’s campaign was highlighted by a dramatic 3-3 draw against Aboh Mbaise in their opener. However, their form dipped as they ended their final group game with a goalless draw against Ezinihitte to qualify for the final.
Aboh Mbaise finished third in the standings with three points after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Ezinihitte in their last group match.
The grand finale promises to be an exciting showdown, taking place just before the Mbaise Cultural Festival, which will feature various traditional dance groups showcasing Mbaise’s rich cultural heritage.
According to Silvernews, the Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, Dr. Obi Asika, will be the special guest of honor. In addition, two distinguished personalities from Mbaise will be celebrated for their exceptional contributions to the development of the Mbaise Nation and beyond.
DCP Chioma Ajunwa (Rtd), Nigeria’s first Olympic gold medalist and the only athlete globally to play football at the FIFA Women’s World Cup and win an Olympic gold medal, will be honored. Also receiving recognition is Professor Uzodinma Nwala, a pioneer of African literature and the visionary behind Nigeria’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
The final and the accompanying festivities are expected to celebrate both sporting excellence and Mbaise’s rich cultural legacy.
