It was an atmosphere of glitz and glamour as the 1993 Alumni of Emmanuel Anglican Primary School Okesa, Ado Ekiti held their annual reunion party.
The event, which held on Saturday, in Ado-Ekiti, gathered distinguished members of the association, who dressed colourfully in different attires to celebrate a historic reunion party 33 years after graduation.
In his welcome address, President of the class, Faluyi Bamidele, described the reunion as historic saying that it serves as an opportunity to reflect their commitment, shared memory and a collective willingness to reconnect.
While urging the alumni association to approach the reunion as not merely a social event but as a forum for deliberate decision-making, he emphasised that the lessons they received in their alma mater has helped shaped their life journeys.
His words: “This gathering is historic for us. Many years have passed since we last assembled as pupils under the discipline, guidance, and care of our teachers within the walls of Emmanuel Anglican Primary School.
“Today, we return not as children, but as adults shaped by different experiences, professions, responsibilities, and life journeys yet United by a common foundation.
“I am encouraged by the level of interest, cooperation, and unity shown in organising this programme. It demonstrates that our set has the potential to remain relevant, cohesive, and impactful.
“Going forward, we must translate this enthusiasm into sustainable engagement through structured alumni activities, mutual support mechanisms, and meaningful contributions to our alma mater.”
Gracing the epoch-making event as Special Guest of Honour and current Headmaster of the school, Ogundumoye Roland, eulogised the efforts and contributions of the association to their alma mater, describing them as symbol of unity.
According to him, “This class is going to be named as symbol of unity to my personality and my shock absorber. You assisted my pupils with uniforms, sock, notebooks and sandals.
“The level that you put this school allowed Ekiti State government to pick us as one of the Basic Schools in the state. It’s also the headquarters of Basic Schools in the state and it’s because of your assistance and what you put on ground that allowed government to name us as a Basic School.”
The event featured awards presentations, recognition of distinguished members and special appreciation to co-ordinators and contributors.
One of the award recipients, who was named patron of the association, Engr. Ajibola Ojo showered encomium on the body for extending humanitarian support to their alma mater and pledged to continually support their initiatives.
In the same vein, a retired Permanent Secretary in Ekiti State, and award recipient, Hon. Tayo Olawoyin described the gathering as laudable and unique while urging them to sustain the drive in uplifting the school.
Earlier in his opening remark, Chairman of the Reunion Committee, Bolaji Kolawole, commended the association for their support towards ensuring that a befitting reunion was organised despite the challenges.
Highlights of the event include the presentation and donation of alumni initiatives such as mentorship, scholarships, infrastructure, keynote reflection/thought-sharing session, social interaction, among others.
