Super Falcons Head Coach, Justin Madugu has provided insights on Gift Monday’s omission from the squad.
Recall that Nigeria’s head coach omitted in-form Monday from the 21 players that were called up for the final qualifying fixture for the 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations championship against Benin Republic.
According to him, “I have no issues at all with Gift. She is very much part of my plans and will surely play her part in our quest for global success. However, we currently have very strong competition for the forward position.”
Forwards Chinwendu Ihezuo aand Esther Okoronkwo scored first-half goals to give reigning African champions, Nigeria’s Super Falcons a 2-0 win over their Bénin Republic counterparts in the first leg of their 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture, first leg in Lome, Togo.
The return leg is slated for the MKO Abiola Sports Complex, Abeokuta on Tuesday, 28th October 2025.
