NSCDC Commandant Geneal highlights importance of prayers to corp’s stability

The Commandment General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Prof. Abubakar Audi has said that prayers are among the factors that have stabilised the corps.

Audi made this disclosure today in Abakaliki during the inauguration of christian chapel constructed by the State Commandant of the corps in Ebonyi, Francis Nnadi.

The commandant said that prayers have aided the unity among Christians and Muslims in the corps, ensuring efficiency and proactiveness in its operations.

“Christians and Muslims observe religious activities together inside churches and mosques at the corps headquarters.

“This has kept us together and such is evident in our operations.”

He thanked Governor Francis Nwifuru for personally inaugurating the facility, noting that his presence was overwhelming.

“When the state commandant told me that he wanted to build a chapel in your honour, I gave him my nod.

“The chapel is named after you (Francis) and we are all happy with the honour.”

Audi commended Nwifuru for ensuring equitable governance in Ebonyi, pledging the corps commitment to collaborate with the state government in curbing illegal mining and other crimes in the state.

He noted that NSCDC has shut a large number of illegal mining sites across the country and arrested several suspects including foreign nationals.

Governor Nwifuru while inaugurating the chapel, commended the state commandant for the feat and the honour of naming the facility after him.

“I thank the commandant general of the corps for his visit to Ebonyi and happy that Nnadi is the corps commandant in the state.

“Whoever builds a house for God will not lack houses in his home.”

He urged the NSCDC to beef its workforce in the state to check illegal mining and others crimes.

“The number of your personnel in Ebonyi is grossly inadequate and this shortfall has made the military take up responsibilities outside its primary mandate.”

Audi also interacted with personnel of the corps during the visit, urging them to enhance their performances and protect the corp’s image.
