Colour, Culture, and Celebration as Mbaise Hosts Iri-Ji National Festival 2025

The Mbaise nation is set to come alive with pomp, colour, and tradition as it hosts the Iri-Ji Mbaise National Cultural Festival 2025 — one of Nigeria’s most celebrated cultural events honouring the new yam.

The grand festival will hold on Friday, 15th August 2025, at Town School, Itu, Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area, starting at 11:00 a.m.

This year’s edition will be chaired by Barr. Louis Alozie, SAN, with the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, as Chief Guest of Honour. The Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, will attend as Special Guest of Honour.

Visitors can expect electrifying cultural displays, pulsating traditional dances, and melodious music, alongside the renowned warmth and hospitality of the Mbaise people.

Organisers say the festival is not just a celebration of the yam harvest but also a reaffirmation of unity, identity, and pride in Mbaise heritage — attracting dignitaries, tourists, and cultural enthusiasts from within and outside Nigeria.
