AVE Int’l FC Isinweke Mourns Late Coach Christian Chukwu

Ave International Football Club, Isinweke, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Nigerian football legend, Coach Christian Chukwu, who died on April 12, 2025, at the age of 74.

In an official condolence message signed by the club’s Chairman, High Chief PMC Okeke, the club extended heartfelt sympathies to Chukwu’s family, friends, and the larger football community, especially the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

“We are deeply saddened by the news of Coach Chukwu’s passing. His departure leaves a significant void in the football world,” the statement read.

Chukwu, a revered figure in Nigerian football, was celebrated for his exceptional contributions both as a player and coach. He captained the national team to its first-ever Africa Cup of Nations title in 1980 and later led the Super Eagles to the semi-finals of the 2004 AFCON as head coach.

“His legacy as a player and tactician will remain etched in the annals of Nigerian football history,” Ave Int’l FC added.

The club prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family during this difficult period and offered final respects to the departed icon.

“Rest in peace with your Creator, great Coach Christian Chukwu,” the statement concluded.
