Students of Obohia Secondary School in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area have joined the ranks of a select few schools in the country benefiting from the first edition of Ilulu Igbo, a book produced by the Greater Mbaise Forum to promote the Igbo language.
The 32-page book, described as a masterpiece and a must-read for every Igbo child, was donated this week by an illustrious son of the community, Chief Dr. Moe Ogoko, Chairman Emeritus of the Obohia Development Association (ODA) In the United States of America.
Speaking at the donation ceremony, Chief Ogoko expressed his pride in giving back to the school, which he described as a first-class center of learning in the community. He urged students and teachers to take their studies and work seriously, emphasizing that education remains the surest way out of poverty. He also advised students to avoid vices that could jeopardize their future careers.
The principal and teachers of the school expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that the book would help deepen students’ understanding of the Igbo language. The principal also took the opportunity to highlight some of the challenges facing the school.
Following the donation, Chief Dr. Ogoko inspected several projects undertaken at the school by various organizations he is affiliated with, reaffirming his commitment to the institution’s development. He also took the opportunity to meet with some students who benefit from his scholarship program.
